In addition, the stored data may be necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject (e.g. Transparency Register). Data on unsuccessful applications will be stored for up to five years following the end of the year in which the final rejection decision has been made. Data on successful applications will be stored for up to fifteen years following the end of the year in which the payment of the travel grant has been made, provided that there are no legal retention requirements (e.g. tax law) which preclude this.

The legal basis for this data processing are Art. 6.1.b and Art. 6.1.f DSGVO, whereby the legitimate interest lies in the fulfillment of the statutory purpose of the association, of the award announcement and of the contract with the Novo Nordisk Foundation. In addition, the stored data may be necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject (e.g. Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance). The stored data is used for reviewing your application as part of a lawful application process. For this purpose all data submitted by you in your application will be stored. Based on this data it will be determined if you will be invited to an interview as part of the selection process. In the case of applicants who are fundamentally suitable, additional personal data that is essential for the selection decision will be collected. If you are eligible for recruitment, you will be informed separately on certain additional personal data to be collected as part of the application process. The data will be stored for a period of at least six months. If the application is not successful or if it is withdrawn, the data provided as part of the application process will be destroyed after six months from the date of the rejection letter. The storage of data for this period is required in the event of actions for legal reasons (in particular, assertion of claims under the General Act on Equal Treatment (AGG)).
